Tal Marmur treating lower back and shoulder pain with WEST swimming technique

Hi, my name is Tal, I’m 30 years old, living in Tel-Aviv and working as a R&D manager at a biotech company.

I started swimming when I was 10 years old and became a professional swimmer, swimming between 6-9 times a week until the age of 18, mostly competing in 100 and 200 meters butterfly. 11 years after quitting, I heard about this masters team at Water World and decided to join.

Very quickly I started training 3-4 times a week, swimming mainly freestyle and butterfly.

While my mind thought I’m able to swim and train like I was used to, my body thought otherwise and I started feeling pain in my shoulders. I was very disappointed when I was told that I might be training too intensively for my age, but then I heard about the WEST technique which taught me how to adjust my swimming style to what my body requires today.

After applying the WEST technique, I felt no more pain and I’m proud to say that I repeated my 100m record from when I was 16 and only 5 seconds away from my 200m record.
